Spring Park
Spring Park located 1 1/2 miles west of Osage is used for hiking & camping with shelters, restrooms, playground, and picnic area. The artesian well-spring has been flowing for many years with the first cylinder tube being installed in 1890. Many come to drink this refreshing cold water or to “make a wish.” Over the last 60 years, the park has seen several changes including doubling in size and loss of over 500 elm trees from Dutch Elm Disease. The park's spring has maintained a constant flow to this day. The water is tested frequently and tastes great at a temperature of 52°. The park is used as a picnic, playground, and primitive camping area with numerous patrons annually. |
Harry Cook Nature Trail
The Harry Cook Nature Trail was named after the late William "Harry" Cook, a member of the Osage Park Board for over 30 years. It was his dream to have Osage and Spring Park connected by a trail. The Osage Park and Recreation Department received the first Recreation Trails Grant ever issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation. The length of the trail is 2 miles.
